What direction will the new century industry of Korea be in 2001? Even though the Korean industrial society grew at a shorter period compared to that of the west, but it is pointed out to have very weak basis. Developed industrial countries are shifting rapidly from the industrial society to the intellectual society based on information, and to the Bioindustry society. On a strong base of basic science, they added huge investments to form the industrial society, then formed a industry-evaded informative society that they obtained all 3 factors for developing the Biotechnology industry and Bioindustry. Under the WTO system, only enterprises with competitive power can survive, and there are no legal apparatus for a country to protect its enterprises unless there are illegal trading relationships. The restriction was removed but the actual competition is starting now. The influence of huge Pharmaceutical and Agricultural Chemical enterprises from M&A, tactical cooperation for survival and survival strategies through cooperative research on the domestic Biotechnology and Bioindustry is shown to be great. Moreover, the best way for an enterprise to survive is rearing of competitive power, and for this purpose, methodological adoption or rejection choices are considered important. The Biotechnology Industry and Bioindustry is at an inferior position than developed industrial countries, but possibility is shown in the gap market aspect.
